Emma Jordan (She/They) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist located in Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia), Canada. Jordan employs a range of materials to address sensory perception, process emotional turmoil, and analyze interconnectedness with one’s surroundings. These topics are routinely considered through abstracted drawings and large scale multimedia works, as well as through directing and encouraging community participation in group activities, both through her studio practice and private functions.
Emma pursues her practice in a lens of which amplifies the themes of her mental experiences, aiming to contribute to the de-stigmatization of mental illnesses, and emphasize artists as humans as well as use art to create accessibility in both physical and mental spaces.
After taking time to simmer in 2022, her work has begun to include a variety of stimuli for study and experimental purposes. ASMR, Binaural Beats, and heavily tactile forms are continuing to present opportunities for her previous methods to evolve into immersive spaces intended for public experience and inclusivity.
